What Does It Mean To “Normalize”?

The main problem I would like to solve with this project is the discomfort girls feel when it comes to periods. The way society makes girls feel like they can’t talk about it or can’t even walk around comfortably holding a tampon. I want to create a normalization of girls being able to talk about it freely, for girls to feel empowered and to normalize the concept that periods are NORMAL!

I know there is a question of “with whom” the girls are normalizing periods and I think that answer is with themselves and other girls; girls supporting girls! Although educating men is vital, I think the importance of girls feeling good about themselves and gaining confidence starting at a young age can create a stronger, more powerful women! Creating empowered, educated generations of girls, is my goal.
